I have not owned a vehicle for a very long time and I am planning to purchase one on the next few weeks in Hollywood, FL. They need a proof of insurance when I go in but how can I auto obtain insurance on a vehicle that I don’t have yet? I am not even sure what I kind of car I would like to buy.

Since you are not trading in a vehicle and have not had insurance for awhile you are right that you will not have insurance to extend to a car that you buy in Hollywood, Florida. Since in most states you will need to show the dealer proof of insurance before you can drive the car off you will need to buy car insurance before you leave the lot.

In Florida, the dealer is required to see proof of insurance before you leave the place. Florida law requires all cars licensed within the state to have insurance. Without this proof of insurance, the dealer cannot complete the transfer of registration and title into the buyer’s name.
