Reader’s Question:
I hit a parked vehicle and I do not have car insurance Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The other party has uninsured motorist coverage. If she pays the deductible and gets her vehicle fixed do I still have to pay their insurance provider for the damages?

Insurance carrier guidelines vary but if the individual that you hit uses their own auto insurance policy to repair the damages to their car then yes, normally the insurance provider will subrogate with you for the monies they have paid out for the damages you caused.
In Florida the HSMV states that when you had caused property damage only in an accident at are at fault and were driving without insurance you first should get the state required insurance coverages. Then with the car insurance coverage and releases or monthly repayment agreements, you will be able to give them upon notice from the Department to avoid driver license, tags, and registrations suspension.
So, if you failed to pay back the insurance provider or get a payment agreement worked out with them than your drivers license, registration and tags could be suspended.Your state’s DMV could tell you the penalties for not repaying the insurance provider upon their request.
